Galatea is a rabbit trained for sisterhood from around the age of four. Because of this, she’s sheltered, and knows little of the world outside of her home and church.
Her name is a cruel joke, surely referring to her hair, her eyes, and the expectation laid upon her to be the perfect picture of purity at all times.
Her greatest wish is to protect those dear to her heart, and she’ll stop at nothing to make that wish come true.

Character story 1

Galatea was born into a family that descends from the Moon Goddess.
Their bloodline is notable for their unique rabbit features, and their odd appearance.
As the only daughter, she alone is to carry on the will of the Goddess.
She must remain kind. She must be strong. She must work harder than others. And most of all, she absolutely must remain pure.
The Angelis family’s concept of purity deems things such as love a sin. And so, Galatea has been cooped up her entire life, in attempts to secure the future they envision for her.

Character story 2

Galatea doesn’t have many friends. Rather, she isn’t allowed to. Her only friends are her fellow sisters.
Her life is a lonely one, working day in and day out as a healer, only to return to solitude when the day is done.
It’s a dreary way to live. But she carries on, because it is what is expected of her.
Sometimes, she finds she enjoys the solitude. But is that really what she wants?

Character story 3

To others, Galatea pretends to enjoy her duties, and pretends to be okay with the expectations placed upon her.
That is the farthest thing from the truth. Secretly, she longs for freedom, and she longs for love of all sorts nearly as much.
One day, she knows this life will lead her to ruin. But she has no control over it, so she continues as according to the will of the Goddess.
But, sometimes she has to wonder if this really is her Goddess’ will.

Character story 4

Galatea was born sickly. Nearly dying as a newborn, her family soon became overprotective of her.
Keeping her inside was not solely for their own benefit, but out of fear for her health.
She came to realize this only recently, but even if it was out of love, she finds this unacceptable.
She’s started to test the limits of her freedom, staying out later than usual with the excuse of her spending extra time at the church to pay tributes to Barbatos.

Character story 5

Galatea is actually quite bitter, under her kind and graceful exterior.
No one would be able to guess it, and that’s how she’d prefer it to stay.
Despite her bitterness, she’s decided to be kind to everyone no matter what.
She pushes herself further than she should, be it when healing or running errands for the townspeople.
If she caused other people to suffer just because of her own misfortunes, she would be no different from her family.
So she will be kind, even if it’s at her detriment.

On Fairy Tales and Freedom

Galatea has spent her entire life using fairy tales as a means of escape.
Partially because she can’t read at higher levels, but mainly because she finds a sense of catharsis in reading tales of tragic heroines and trapped princesses.
Ironically, her favorite fairy tale is a book titled “The Moon Princess and the Sun Prince.” She finds it almost laughably fitting.
It’s a simple tale, about a tragic princess, one who has never known the company of anyone but her mother. A dull existence, she craved for a taste of something more, not much unlike Galatea.
Eventually, a young prince comes across her one day while she’s out picking flowers. The two bond, and become smitten with one another. Against her mother’s wishes, she runs away with him, and it’s a classic “happily ever after.”
When she thinks about it, all she’s ever wanted was to be rescued by a handsome prince, or a knight. But fantasy is fantasy, so she tries her best not to lose herself in her daydreams.

Vision

Galatea got her Vision at 14 years old, but to this day, she still doesn’t understand the reason.
She found it clutched in her hand one morning, with no real explanation as to why. Her first thoughts weren’t positive ones, as she knew this would be another excuse to be pushed further.
And, as she had expected, she soon became a healer in the church.
She wishes she could understand this gift from Celestia, why she of all people would have been chosen. She wants to know what she did to be worthy.
Sometimes, though, she’s found that her Vision shines brightest when she’s taking care of the ones she loves most.
Perhaps healing is her true calling, after all.

Love Letters from the Moon, to the Sun

Galatea and Diluc were best friends before they were lovers.
Thanks to Galatea's recent bursts of rebellion, she had the chance to meet the "Darknight Hero" and heal his wounds.
It wasn't difficult for her to discern his true identity, recognizing him as none other than Diluc. She almost found it laughable how horrible his disguise is.
And she found it even more laughable that no one else in town could recognize that flaming red hair.
Teasingly, she said to him, "You really should take better care of yourself, Master Diluc."
Flustered, he asked her to promise not to tell anyone about his identity.
Galatea has never been one to brag, so she agreed. Their meetings, though accidental, became a weekly occurance.

She attempted to get closer to him. If they were going to have private meetings where she saves him from the brink of death, they might as well get to know each other.

Diluc, however, pushed her away whenever she attempted to get closer. (Politely, of course, being a gentleman.) He couldn't afford to get close to anyone.
(He couldn't afford to lose anyone again.)
Unfortunately for him, the rabbit has far too great a gravitational pull, so he eventually gave up in his efforts.

They bonded more as Galatea began to visit his tavern more often, typically only ordering plain juice.
After one night where she drank too much, under the insitance of Rosaria, she revealed just how trapped she truly felt. She only drank because she wanted to feel like everyone else, if only once.

Diluc saw her home after letting her sober up, not knowing until later that they were seen together.

It was weeks until she was able to see him again, falling apart in front of him. Something that felt long overdue.
He placed his hand on top of her head, soothing her, and they both decided that's where it belonged.

A year later, Galatea took him on a shopping trip with her, confessing to him in their shared room at an inn.
They began dating, and her visits to the winery became far more frequent. She felt she finally found a place that feels like home.

The following month, Galatea falls ill. Not being taken care of at home, she recieves help from Barbara to sneak out, beginning a domestic life with Diluc.
She spends the next four months in recovery, later being told by Mona that her body can't handle the weight of a Goddess' powers.
So begins her training arc. She quickly becomes efficient with a claymore, and learns to channel her Vision for more than just healing.

Eventually, the pair gets married and have two children, Eleanor and Noctis.
Galatea finally gains the happy family she's always dreamed of. It's a bumpy ride, but she would say this is a "happily ever after."
